Weathering the Storms
Monsoons hit Pakistan every year, but this time they have been particularly strong with heavy rains causing much damage to mud-based, thatched-roof homes. Fields are underwater so food supplies have been affected. Standing water is causing mosquito populations to thrive, raising the risk of spreading malaria. Personal items including kitchen supplies and clothing have been swept away.
The entire country is affected, but the damage is most severe on the western side of Pakistan including areas in Sindh where Rustam, Shakeel, and Shahzaib minister. And more rain is in the forecast.
Both Rustam and Shahzaib and their families have had to evacuate to escape the flooding and the damage. The photos below were taken from behind Shahzaib's home.
Reach the Nations is furnishing families in crisis with mosquito nets, blue tarps to cover exposed roofs, bottled water, and other specific items as needs become known. Pray for our team as they find sources for these things (there are shortages now) and then deliver them with a message of love from fellow Christians.
The Lord sits enthroned over the flood; the Lord sits enthroned as king forever. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace! - Psalm 29:10-11
