Philmina's Story
Philmina is a graduate of Zaresh's basic literacy course. She now attends the "learning to read the Bible" course, also taught by Zaresh.
Philmina worked as a day-care aide, but recently was laid off due to budget cuts. She went home, wondering what she as going to do and worried about meeting immediate needs.
She noticed her Bible on the shelf and opened it to the Gospel of Matthew, a book already covered in the Bible reading course. When she read Matthew 7:7, she knew God was speaking to her. "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
As she thought about that verse, she was encouraged. She says,"I felt comfort and peace in my heart. Jesus is our provider."
She shared her testimony with her class, so happy that, for the first time in her life, she has direct access to the Bible. She can read it for herself. And it speaks to her heart.
We continue to be thankful for Zaresh and her faithfulness in teaching these women how to read and love God's Word.
Reach the Nation's second literacy center is located in another part of Islamabad and is taught by Sikendar, a dedicated teacher.
Here he is teaching basic literacy skills to a class of 22 students. A few of them are shown below.
Pray for these students and their teachers.
